HOME 4 / FARMSTAND NOOK

Gardyn vs Lettuce Grow.
Compare the right models.

This comparison is specifically Gardyn Home 4 versus the indoor Farmstand Nook. It does not substitute the price or specifications of Lettuce Grow’s Original Farmstand, nor use the smaller Gardyn Studio as if it were the same model.

We compare dated manufacturer information and show our calculations. We have not physically tested these systems. Merchant links are ordinary links; no affiliate account or paid ranking is implied.

Home 4 is $100 more at the advertised hardware prices. That difference is only the starting point: a $10 difference in monthly recurring spending would be $120 over a year. This is a sensitivity example, not a claim that one brand has that running-cost advantage.

We have a published monthly electricity estimate for Home 4 and no comparable verified monthly number for Nook. We therefore cannot declare which is cheaper to run. An empty energy field is a question to resolve, not free electricity.

Count the starting plants correctly.

The Nook page describes starter seedling credits redeemed separately after the order. Gardyn sells a starter growing system with plant starters. Check the exact basket, redemption steps and timing for either order before assuming what arrives ready to plant.

Included starter plants are not a recurring yearly supply. Your budget should separate getting started from what you spend to keep the garden planted later.

Choose a replacement route before a winner.

For Gardyn, read the manufacturer’s with- and without-membership guidance, then cost the option you would actually use. For Nook, price your intended seedling and nutrient orders, including freight. We have not verified an equivalent mandatory plan for Nook and do not assume one.

If you compare a plan with credits against individual plant orders, avoid charging the plan for its bundled plants a second time. Conversely, declining a subscription does not make consumables free.

What would change the decision?

  • Room and care access. Mark each exact model’s footprint and the space needed to tend it. A narrow base can still leave awkward cleaning access.
  • Preferred starting routine. Confirm the plant-starting and replacement steps in the manufacturer instructions.
  • Your delivered and recurring quote. Compare the actual basket and your electricity rate, not financing instalments.
  • Evidence of kitchen output. Thirty sites versus twenty does not prove a specific weekly salad count.

There is no universal winner in this document-based comparison. It exposes what we can price and the unknowns that still prevent a fair total-cost verdict.

Sources and what remains unknown.

Product specifications and advertised prices were checked on October 17, 2026. Prices and packages can change. Monthly energy values are manufacturer estimates, not measurements by Indoor Garden Scout. Where facts are unknown, we leave them unknown.

Calculations are our own arithmetic from the stated inputs. Hypothetical examples are labelled and exclude unentered costs, time and harvest value. Check the exact order, current policies and care instructions before buying.
